Hi,

In the RELEASE-NOTES for udev-076, it states:

"Also /lib/udev/devices is recommended as a directory where packages or
the user can place real device nodes, which get copied over to /dev at
every boot."

This suggests that udev does this copying itself. However, in README it
states:

"The content of /lib/udev/devices directory should be copied over to the
tmpfs mounted /dev, to provide the required nodes to initialize udev."

This suggests that it is the job of a bootscript to copy the devices
across, and a quick test/grep of the source suggests that, indeed, udev
won't do any such copying itself.

Could someone confirm this for me please?

Thanks,

Matt.

The boot script is expected to mount tmpfs on /dev, copy the initial and
static nodes from /lib/udev/devices and then start udevd.

Kay
