All is in the subject:
root jarry:/usr/share/doc/udev# ls -al /udev/hdb1
0 lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 32 2006-01-16 10:16 /udev/hdb1 ->
ide/host0/bus1/target1/lun0/part
root jarry:/usr/share/doc/udev# ls -al /udev/hda1
0 lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 32 2006-01-16 10:16 /udev/hda1 ->
ide/host0/bus1/target1/lun0/part
I'm on debian, testing, kernel 2.6.15
It was not the case with 079-1

Yes, %b was broken with the udev preparation for a future sysfs
change. Asking udev for "the physical device" will not make sense
in the new sysfs layout, that just has parent devices and does not
distinct between "locigal" and "physical". I didn't know how to implemet
%b while replacing libsysfs in udev. Marco had a nice idea and we
hopefully found a good compromise to make it working again. udev
081, is expected to fix this.
Note: The devfs scheme is completey broken by concept and you should
definitely avoid it. The identification numbers of the disks, that the
devfs scheme assigns your devices is completely unpredictable in a
usual setup and pretty useless cause of this.
Switch to the /dev/disk scheme, that was designed to work reliable
in a modern environment and which solves all these problems.
Thanks,
Kay
