It is functional in 2.6.15, but causes the boot process to hang with every kernel afterwards up to 2.6.19-rc5. I have found out that the hang occurs inside the /etc/init.d/udev script when it is called via the /etc/rcS.d/S10udev link at boot. The hang actually occurs in the /sbin/udevplug utility when it is invoked in the udev script, and only happens when ohci1394 support is configured as part of a kernel build. This appears to occur whether ohci1394 support is built into the kernel, or configured as a module. I am told that there have been no "substantial" changes in ohci-1394 between 2.6.15 and the present. I am trying this on a quad Mac on which I am presently running a 2.6.19-rc5 kernel without any other difficulty. I did have to patch the ahci and ata_piix drivers for pci_device_id conflicts, and I have to use the "irqpoll" kernel argument in order to function at all, but it seems to be quite stable without the ohci1394 driver. It is difficult to provide dmesg output from the boot, since the system locks up at boot if the ohci-1394 driver is used. If anyone familiar with the ohci-1394 driver or udev has any ideas for me to check out, I'll be happy to try. J.
