Hi,
I am trying to understand how the udev system works and track down this
issue on Debian/ubuntu flavors.
In this case he interfaces are setup as static to remove any blame from
dhclient.
This bug:
https://bugs.beta.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/dhcp3/+bug/38140 is
probably a symptom of this issue.
With a hotplug network interface such as usb0, it seems that upon
removal "ifdown usb0" does not happen.
The interface seems to go down OK but when it is plugged back in the
interface does not come up correctly.
"ifconfig" shows lo and eth0 but not usb0
"ifconfig usb0" shows usb0 with no IP Address
If i do an ifdown usb0; ifup usb0; then everything works.
If I pull out the USB cable and then do an "ifdown usb0" I get an error
but when I plug bak in the USB cable it comes up OK. So it seeems
something is still holding on to usb0 after removal.
I need help to debug this issue. Any help appreciated.
Thanks
Grahame Jordan
