Hi,
I have been asked by a mandriva guy to report this bug
https://qa.mandriva.com/show_bug.cgi?idU836
to this list to fix this bug upstream
Problem is that the acl list for a Garmin GPS (GPSMAP60CSX) attached using USB is not set so that any ordinary users are allowed to open the USB port and gpsbabel fails (except for root).
Details and my hotfix are found in the above mandriva bug report. Thanks
Best Regards
Gunther

Recent usb.ids shows this:
091e Garmin International
0003 GPSmap (various models)
0004 iQue 3600
0200 Data Card Programmer (install)
1200 Data Card Programmer
21a5 etrex Cx (msc)
2295 Colorado 300
2353 Nüvi 205T
Should any of these other product ids be included as well?
I don't own any of these, so I don't know, to be honest?
A better question perhaps - shouldn't this stuff belong
to the affected package as opposed to udev though?

The usb.id 0003 is - at least - affected (GPSMap).
Regarding the packaging I have no preferences. If there is any way to
move the fix to a location that is not subject to updates of the
distribution I'm fine. But I'm no expert to udev, I have just been
digging into this problem as fas as necessary. If you can tell me where
I could locate the fix I would also post this to the GPSBABEL-Team to
publish the fix on their website.
