Thank you for the tip. However, the output seems to be the same
regardless whether the error occurs or not. The only difference being,
of course, that udev removes the devices in the event of that error
before the usb stick has physically been removed. May be it's really
hal that interferes rather badly in this particular case. It's just
hard to track it down.
