From mboxrd@z Thu Jan 1 00:00:00 1970 From: David Brownell Date: Fri, 12 Apr 2002 15:50:18 +0000 Subject: fxload 2002_04_11 release Message-Id: List-Id: MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit To: linux-hotplug@vger.kernel.org I'm pleased to announce that the "fxload" package, split out from the core hotplug utilities (latest release 2002_04_01), now has its own release available at http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/linux-hotplug/ Formats for the current release include fxload-2002_04_11.tar.gz ... tarball fxload-2002_04_11-1.i386.rpm... x86 rpm (rh7) fxload-2002_04_11-1.src.rpm... source rpm (rh7) The "fxload" utility is used with USB devices based on Cypress EZ-USB microcontrollers (original, FX, and FX2). It's used to download firmware to those devices, using "usbfs" rather than needing to tie down kernel memory with those images. And it can also ease licensing concerns about linking non-GPL'd code into the Linux kernel ... :) This program will be interesting to you if you're providing Linux support (including a driver) for USB products based on those EZ-USB controllers, or are developing such products. Features of this updated version include: - Understands two stage loading, as needed by devices that require off-chip memory. The package now includes the "a3load.hex" image from Cypress, which installs into a new /usr/share/usb directory. - Supports use of Cypress "Vend_Ax" loader for writing to the I2C boot EEPROMs; handy during development. - Bugfixes, including correct merging of adjacent records for faster downloads (or EEPROM programming). - Source code compiles against 2.5 kernel headers. - "fxload -V" tells you what version you're using. The release also includes an updated manual page; an example showing how to use this is towards the end of: http://linux-hotplug.sourceforge.net/?selected=usb Followups to the linux-hotplug-devel@lists.sourceforge.net or linux-usb-devel@lists.sourceforge.net lists as appropriate. - Dave _______________________________________________ Linux-hotplug-devel mailing list http://linux-hotplug.sourceforge.net Linux-hotplug-devel@lists.sourceforge.net https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/linux-hotplug-devel
