I have 2 cardbus cards:

- Adaptec 1480A SCSI controller
- a no name 4 port USB 2.0 card based on the NEC chip.

Both cards are running very fine if I insert the module "aic7xxx" resp.
"ehci-hcd" manually after plugging in the card. But I would like to have my
system start these modules automatically right after insertion.
I google-ed a lot, tried to understand the documentation in the hotplug
package. Without success. I am really confused on what to do where.

This is my system:
- SuSE 7.3
- kernel 2.4.22 with kernel modules for pcmcia
- pcmcia package version 3.2.4 compiled with this kernel
- Hotplug is enabled within the Kernel
  (CONFIG_HOTPLUG=y, CONFIG_HOTPLUG_PCI=m)
- modutils 2.4.22
- Hotplug package installed as from SuSE (version 2001_04_24)

For the SCSI controller I get the following information:

df8xq-nb:/etc/pcmcia # cardctl ident 1
product info: "Adaptec", "APA-1480 SCSI Host Adapter", "", ""
  manfid: 0x012f, 0xcb01
  function: 8 (SCSI)

df8xq-nb:/etc/pcmcia # lspci -v
[... output deleted here ...]

In /var/log/messages I found:

And for the no name USB 2.0 card:

  no product info available

df8xq-nb:/etc/pcmcia # lspci -v

Can you tell me please what's going wrong here?

Hans
