No, no no...  Everything is in ASCII.  Look around in sysfs, you will
see almost all text files.  Yes, there are a few exceptions to the "text
file only" rule, but they are for files that are "pass-through" type
files that expose hardware information.  Examples of this is the i2c
EEPROM data.

I think it's in the libsysfs tarball, and I've included it now in the
docs directory of udev.  It's in the bk tree right now, and will be in
the next release, don't remember if it's in the 009 release.  Oh well,
