I just noticed an important oversight in your current hotplug README. It doesn't state that hotplug.functions needs to be copied to /sbin and made executable just like /sbin/hotplug does. Because I finally noticed this, I now have a working 2.4.0 hotplug environment. I think it would be great to update the README.
