IMHO, there is one column missing in /etc/hotplug/usb.distmap, maybe one of
bcdDevice_lo, bcdDevice_hi. And at least for acm module it seems that
bDeviceClass and bDeviceProtocol are swapped.

Is the format of usb.distmap special or is it just supposed to be a copy of
/lib/modules/2.4.x/modules.usbmap for kernel with all USB modules compiled?

I know that usb.distmap is not so much important, but there are still some
people who use both 2.2.x kernel and USB (don't laugh at us ;-)

It should be a copy of the 2.4.x modules.usbmap as you describe,
yes. I thought I'd checked in an update a while back, maybe it
wasn't the right version.

Sure enough, it hadn't changed since the original,
generated before the "usb_device_id" change got
into the 2.4.0 patch. I updated it in CVS.
