You did read the README-2.4 file for PCMCIA, right? This card is now managed by the "hotplug" subsystem, and doesn't get its configuration the same way as 16-bit PCMCIA cards. You need to install the linux-hotplug scripts (which actually seem to have at least been able to load the right driver already).
