Hello,

I've met udev some days ago, and this naturally resulted questions.
Unfortunately I wasn't able to find answers (and admittedly I do not
have time to figure out from the sources, I apologise for that), neither
this list, nor google (nor the docs, naturally) seemed to realise that
these are possible questions.

* My main problem: HiSax isdn device nodes. I _have_to_ use hisax since
capi-whatever doesn't support passive cards. Hisax seems to be left on its
own devices (no pun intended) in the kernel for the last decade or so.
It happens to work though, and I would like to happen to use it.

It seems that hisax does not generate hotplug events, aren't sysfs aware,
or whatever it takes to be hidden from udev. So I wasn't able to figure out
how to get my darned isdn* device nodes.

* Which leads to the second question: how to manually create device nodes?
(The docs mention it but doesn't get into "how".)

* Does MAKEDEV works? I thought, well, probably MAKEDEV is smart enough to
know,
so I tried it. After it didn't work I checked the source, and MAKEDEV is
smart enough to
know about udev, however it created the devices in /.dev/, which leads to
the
4th question:

* What is /.dev/, or how is it related to anything? (Searching for ".udev"
[with
leading dot] is close to impossible in web search engines, by the way.)
What
does it serve to have my nodes created in /.dev/?

Some of these questions may find their way into FAQ...

Thanks,
Peter
