Since there are no plans by anyone to provide Java 1.1.8 for IA-64, we were hoping that we could use the 32 bit version of the JRE for installing and configuring Oracle on IA-64. By the way, I was not really planning on running Oracle, although that may be a good test of the functionality of the compatibility environment.
