From mboxrd@z Thu Jan 1 00:00:00 1970 From: n0ano@n0ano.com Date: Wed, 18 Jun 2003 22:29:22 +0000 Subject: [Linux-ia64] New mailing list server Message-Id: List-Id: MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit To: linux-ia64@vger.kernel.org You may have noticed that this list has been very quiet for the past week. Something happened to the server and all mail to the list was bouncing. The problem appears to be resolved for now. Resolving this problem has convinced me that we need to move the list to a new server with better support (the initial response I got was `we'll look at it within 5 business days' followed by `case closed, we don't host your list' followed by `I guess we do, problem escalated' followed by silence). David Miller has offered to host our list at `kernel.org'. Unless someone has a strong objection I think we should take him up on the offer and move the list. One downside to this move is that everyone will have to individually subscribe to the new list. (I would try to at least send out the initial subscription message for everyone but I can't do that. The only access to the current list membership is through a web interface that requires a click on each name. I've tried to get an ASCII membership list in the past and it's effectively impossible to get that from our current host, yet another reason to switch.) To subscribe to the new list just send an email to majordomo@vger.kernel.org where the body of the message consists of the single line subscribe linux-ia64 For those web centric people you can go to the URL http://vger.kernel.org/vger-lists.html#linux-ia64 there's a `subscribe' there that will do the job also. All future mail to the list should be addressed to linux-ia64@vger.kernel.org David Mosberger has also arranged to get the `vger' list archived: On Fri, Jun 13, 2003 at 01:28:05PM -0700, David Mosberger wrote: > Thanks to Hank Leininger, the vger list will be archived at: > > http://marc.theaimsgroup.com/?l=linux-ia64&r=1&w=2 > > Hank will also look into adding the old linux-ia64 mails to the > archive, so there is some contiuity. -- Don Dugger "Censeo Toto nos in Kansa esse decisse." - D.
