Hi,

I noticed that 2.6.10 (referring to the changelog, 2.6.11-rc3 as well)
has no builtin support for Promise SATAII 150 TX4 yet; a separate patch
(http://marc.theaimsgroup.com/?l=linux-ide&m=110426005503319&q=raw) is
needed to recognize this hardware.

Since the patch seems to work fine and is available for quite some time
already, I'm interested if there are plans if and when it will be
included in mainline 2.6?

[Please CC me on replies]

Best regards,
Johannes Resch

I had good luck with this patch as well. I think the SATA-SMART patches
should go in too, even if they aren't perfect yet...

regards, mark hahn.

The Promise SATAII patch went in today.

The SMART patches absolutely -should not- go in. Certain common hdparm
commands can cause data corruption rather than produce expected results.

In addition to the bug Andy Warner mentioned previously about the passthrough extensions causing
oopses on SMP machines. For basic use on UP they are fine, I have been beating on the for months
now, but they still have holes big enough to shoot through if you are not careful.
