Hello!


I have a problem with the libata and/or ata_piix drivers in linux kernel 
2.6.x and 2.4.x versions.

The problem occured with the following hw combinations:

1. Maxtor 7Y250M0  250Gb sata disk
   hp/compaq d530 cmt machine

//  Vendor: ATA       Model: Maxtor 7Y250M0    Rev: YAR5
// Intel Corp. 82801EB (ICH5) Serial ATA 150 Storage Controller (rev 02)

2. Maxtor 7Y250M0  250Gb sata disk
   hp dc7110 machine
//  Vendor: ATA       Model: Maxtor 7Y250M0    Rev: YAR5
//  IDE interface: Intel Corp. 82801FB/FW (ICH6/ICH6W) SATA Controller 
(rev 03)


I can write only the first 308Mb on the disk.
Ex.:
Write ~1Gb zeros to disk

# dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/sda bs=1024 count=1024000

Read 1024000 zeros from disk.

Linux distribution is debian sarge.

Ps2.: Under FreeBSD 5.4 Release these hws has worked correctly.
