I have problems on a Intel EM64T with the comibined usage of IDE and SATA. My standard boot disc is on a SATA disk which works pretty fine. However, if I try to load the driver for the IDE disks (piix), then I am not able to access any of the disks or the IDE CD ROM at all - even though the message log lists the disks correctly. Just a side note: Before the move of the SATA driver into the SCSI subsystem (kernels 2.6.12 and older), the system got rather instable when loading piix. This is no longer the case (the system stays stable). For further questions, pls. contact me.
