Hi,

I recently tried out 2.6.16-rc1-mm3 to see if my Plextor PX716-SA would
magically come to life, it did. It had previously not worked in 2.6.15
with the correct parameters being passed to libata. I can seem to read
CDs okay, however every single attempt at burning a CD thus far has
resulted in either a CD that doesn't work or a CD with CRC errors. Is
this expected/known? Can I do anything to fix it or help diagnose the
problem further?

My motherboard is a Asus A8V, VIA K8T800Pro.

An interesting question, since I'm just about buying a Shuttle SK21G
with VIA K8T800CE chipset.

http://linux.yyz.us/sata/sata-status.html#via: VIA SATA production.
@Garzik: Does that mean all their chipsets, K8T800xx included?

@Aaron: I guess you use SATA disk(s), no problems?
Does the kernel boot with APIC enabled without problems? I know this has
been a problem on at least some VIA chipsets.

Further, does anyone know if SATA-2 disks works on this chipset?
I know another VIA chipset, KN400, had problems until VIA fixed it in
KN400pro, IIRC.

Yeah, hard drives are no issue. I've been using this WD Raptor for quite
some time, never an issue.

APIC is enabled in my BIOS and menuconfig, seems to work.

That's not a SATA-2 disk, right?
I'd really like to know if the chipset has issues with SATA-2.

You would've noticed if it hadn't ;)
Thanks for easing my mind so far.

Sorry, it's not.

Can you verify that 2.6.17-rc5 or the latest -mm works for you?

2.6.17-rc4 + libata-dev did not. I made this post a couple days ago:

http://lkml.org/lkml/2006/5/23/13

If there is something specifically in -rc5 or -mm let me know and I can
try that.

Both rc5 and -mm include fixes for this, that's why I made my request :)
