Hello,
I was wondering what the status was of MCP55 hotplug support. To be more
specific, I'm interested in support for this device:
00:05.0 IDE interface [0101]: nVidia Corporation MCP55 SATA Controller
[10de:037f] (rev a3)
I was led to believe by the driver feature matrix (on
http://linux-ata.org/driver-status.html#matrix) that the sata_nv driver
had working hotplug support. After a bit of googling, I found out that
there was at one point a "hotplug polling" patchset by Tejun Heo to
support it - but that was quite a long while ago.
Will we see this appearing in mainline in the (near) future?
Thank you,
-- Mourad DC

My hardware is:
00:0e.0 IDE interface: nVidia Corporation MCP55 SATA Controller (rev a2)
00:0e.1 IDE interface: nVidia Corporation MCP55 SATA Controller (rev a2)
00:0e.2 IDE interface: nVidia Corporation MCP55 SATA Controller (rev a2)
And hotplug does not work, too.
chrisi@mars:~$ lsmod | grep sata
sata_sil24 15236 0
sata_nv 20612 2
libata 125168 3 sata_sil24,sata_nv,ata_generic
There are no info in dmesg wenn plug or un-plug a drive.
On Windows hotplug works.
Does anybody knows hot to activate hotplug?
thank you!
Chris

sata_nv.swncq=1 will get you the hotplug interrupts along with NCQ
support. It might not be completely stable tho.
