Difficult to say, if it's easy to do so I think I would (even if it's a temporary job just running the chassis with the case open during testing), as it may help to localise the problem to the SSD or chipset. Getting hold of the right person at Intel might be tricky - may be worth asking them if there's anyone specifically at the Intel Open-Source Technology Center it would be worth talking to, or maybe trying to find someone there directly?
