If Jonathan or me provide a kernel patch for this, would you be able to test this (this requires building your own kernel with the patch) ? Jonathan, I'm buried in work atm, so I would not mind if you beat me to providing a patch for this. FWIW the (main?) problem seems to be that sometimes the chip comes up with = bit 0 register 0x0d set putting the chip in power-down mode.
