When an attacker gains access to a user's password, he can impersonate that user anywhere on the network, for as long as he wants, at least until the user changes her password.
Whoever undertakes to set himself up as a judge of Truth and Knowledge is shipwrecked by the laughter of the gods. Yet, for all its documented success, software developed per SDL requirements still fails to answer a basic question many customers ask: what security features does the product deliver?
You can also use a tool called HTTPCFG. Smart cards are a compelling alternative to the weak link of authentication systems: passwords.
