PROBLEM: Touchpad (PNP: TOS01f6 PNP0f13) not working under PS/2, requires psmouse.synaptics_intertouch=1 to function via SMBus

Touchpad malfunctions under PS/2; requires 
psmouse.synaptics_intertouch=1 to switch to SMBus.

[2.] Full description:

Kernel log warns: "Your touchpad (PNP: TOS01f6 PNP0f13) says it can 
support a different bus. If i2c-hid and hid-rmi are not used, you might 
want to try setting psmouse.synaptics_intertouch to 1...".
Kernel log contains a lot of "lost sync at byte x" and "issuing 
reconnect request"
Touchpad is unresponsive and only recognizing input intermittently under 
PS/2. Setting psmouse.synaptics_intertouch=1 resolves the issue.
Touchpad is from laptop dynabook G83/FR. Dmesg log at the end.
