Your regular expression is broken, or atleast not functioning the way
you seem to be expecting it to. [5-13] is seen as 5 through 1 and 3.
Since "5-1" isn't a vaild range it's ignored and only the "3" is
matched, and thus you get the c0d1p3
You'll probably have to use pvcreate like this:
pvcreate /dev/cciss/c0d1p[5-9] /dev/cciss/c0d1p1[0-3]
That will pvcreate the following devices:
/dev/cciss/c0d1p5
/dev/cciss/c0d1p6
/dev/cciss/c0d1p7
/dev/cciss/c0d1p8
/dev/cciss/c0d1p9
/dev/cciss/c0d1p10
/dev/cciss/c0d1p11
/dev/cciss/c0d1p12
/dev/cciss/c0d1p13
