As noted, it must exactly match either the entirety of /proc/self/exe or just the basename of it, depending. So if you want to say "limits the following tunables to processes whose file name (taken from /proc/self/exe) matches /pattern/" that's OK. Saying "whose name matches the file" would be wrong, but I don't think you meant that.
