Hi,
I've got some problems getting my KNC1 DVB-C working correctly.
The card is found correctly as
DVB: registering new adapter (KNC1 DVB-C MK3)
DVB: registering adapter 0 frontend 0 (Philips TDA10023 DVB-C)
I also have a CAM connected with an irdeto card installed. Syslog tells
me that its been succesfullay detected.
dvb_ca adapter 0: DVB CAM detected and initialised successfully
I can view non-encrypted/encrypted channels when using Kaffeine,
everything is working perfectly.
My problem is that I want to record tv from the consol (I'm working on
script that can record television and expose it thru mediatomb to be
played on my PS3), and Kaffeine does not run without its UI.
I have tried mplayer and xine, but I quickly found that neither of them
has the abilty to decrypt using the attached CAM. So I went onto try
gnutv, and thats where my problems really start.
When I start gnutv like this.
./gnutv -caslotnum 0 -out file test.ts -channels channels.conf "Kanal 5"
I get this error in syslog.
DVB: TDA10023(0): tda10023_writereg, writereg error (reg == 0x2a, val ==
0x02, ret == -121)
gnutv outputs this to console:
CAM Application type: 01
CAM Application manufacturer: cafe
CAM Manufacturer code: babe
CAM Menu string: Irdeto Access
And nothing else.
The stream saved to test.ts has no video, so I presume gnutv does not
decrypt the video stream.
./gnutv -cammenu works fine, and I can access the cam information using
it.
The problem is also there when using zap and dvbstreamer. I have not yet
tried mythtv or vdr, since I was hoping for a simpler solution using
gnutv or similar software to just dump the stream to disk (decrypted
ofcourse).
I have installed latest v4l drivers from CSV and alos latest dvbapps
from CSV.
I hope somebody might now what the problem could be..
Regards,
Rasmus Pedersen

Hi Rasmus,
the VLC media player records programs for me perfectly from the command
line. If you have problems to give the correct options to it, don't hesitate
to ask.

Tomas

Hi Tomas
Ahh, I had forgotten all about VLC.
What options you use to get it working?

Hi Tomas,
VLC works perfect, I can view the encrypted channels now. One step
closer to getting recorded tv on my PS3.
Now I just need to figure out how to make VLC save the stream to disk.
Thanks alot :-)

Hi Rasmus,
something like
vlc -vvv --color -I dummy --ts-es-id-pid --program=1 --dvb-adapter=0 dvb: --dvb-frequency=258000000 --dvb-srate=6900000 --dvb-modulation=64 --sout '#standard{access=file,mux=ts,dst="record.mpg"}'
does the job. Of course you need to pass your own DVB-C options.
Regards,
Tomas

Hi Tomas
Thanks for the info. I successfully recorded various channels and played
them on the PS3, so fare so good. :)
I only have a bit of trouble recording the h.264 channels. If I view
them with VLC they work fin, but if I record them with VLC and then view
them with VLC they get all pixelated.
The PS3 wont play them either, even tho it plays a h.264 stream recorded
with Xine from the same channel.
I think I might be missing some setting when recording the h.264 stream,
since it works perfecly when viewing live tv with VLC.

Rasmus

Hi Rasmus,
I haven't tested my HD channels yet, in fact there was nothing intersting I would like to record yet. ;-) All my favourite channels are still provided in MPEG-2 PAL. Try another mux= option or transcode. What about "mp4"? http://wiki.videolan.org/Codec#Muxers Maybe I will try it during the weekend.

Tomas

Hi Tomas,
Our HD channels are very limited as well, I just thought it was strange
that when I viewed the channel with VLC there was no errors, but when
dumping it to disc (with vlc) and then viewing it produced alot of
errors.
I might give the MP4 mux a go at some point, HD is not that important.
Again thanks alot for your help :)

Rasmus
