Hi,
im trying to get a Hauppauge HVR-4400 working on a Debian squeeze. It seems to
be unsopported yet. Is there any driver which i don't know about?
If not i would really like to help getting it supported (information,
testing,...)
Some information i get from the card:
Hauppauge HVR-4400 ( should be some kind of 4000 but with a pci-express
interface )
04:00.0 Multimedia video controller [0400]: Conexant Systems, Inc. Hauppauge
Inc. HDPVR-1250 model 1196 [14f1:8880] (rev 04)
Subsystem: Hauppauge computer works Inc. Device [0070:c108]
Flags: fast devsel, IRQ 18
Memory at e2000000 (64-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=2M]
Capabilities: [40] Express Endpoint, MSI 00
Capabilities: [80] Power Management version 3
Capabilities: [90] Vital Product Data
Capabilities: [a0] MSI: Enable- Count=1/1 Maskable- 64bit+
Capabilities: [100] Advanced Error Reporting
Capabilities: [200] Virtual Channel
The driver trying to access the card is cx23885 and it does not know the card
and therefore falls back to generic.
If i force the driver to use the card HVR-1800 i get the following kernel log:
( Maybe this info is not reliable?! )

There is no support currently for that card, and since it uses a
demodulator for which there is not currently a driver, much more work
will be required than simply adding a new board profile.

Oh wow I didn't know Haupauge had released some new models above the 2200.
http://www.hauppauge.co.uk/site/products/prods_hvr_internal.html
Is this 4400 exactly the same as the HVR-2200, aside from the
demodulator used for it's DVB-S/S2?
I hope so, that way work being done on the 2200 can flow onto this!
(cept for DVB-S/S2)
Cheers,
Jed

Bummer!!! :(
Why'd they have to go & use a completely different architecture, lame.

It's just business, get used to it. If you don't like their stuff then buy a
different product. Vote with your wallet. That's the power you have as a consumer.

Just seems counter-intuitive to use an entirely diff. platform.
From a business perspective....

Well, DVB-S/S2 seems to be finally supported using a current kernel (3.11).
I get the following files under /dev/dvb/adapter0:
demux0
dvr0
frontend0
net0
w_scan also works (as described here[1]).
But the card has multiple tuners (DVB-T/C and analogue as well) which are
not recognized.
Is there any information I can give you to help support this card?
I have little experience in C but no experience in programming hardware, but
am willing to help in anyway needed.
Kind regards
Christoph

Ok, that DVB-C part was crap, there's no such tuner onboard. But there's
an analogue tuner onboard which seems to be recognized by the current
kernel:
[...]

But I have no video device listed under /dev.
Is there any information on the analogue tuner and how to get it working
or some information on how to start write a driver?
I would like to try to put something together - probably killing the
card. ;-)
Any help and information on that topic is appreciated!
Kind regards
