Subject: Adding a second card (hvr-1110), video from old card (bt878) stutters
Date: Sun, 03 Feb 2008 08:23:02 +0100 [thread overview]
Message-ID: <1modaysdux.fsf@Psilocybe.Update.UU.SE> (raw)
I have a working mythtv box with an old Hauappauge card in it. I tried to add
another card, a HVR-1110, the version with an saa7133 on it.
I added some udev rules to keep the old card on video0. Then I put the card
in the box and rebooted. First I checked whether mythtv was still working.
I got picure, but it was stuttery, about 10 frames per second or so, and
there was no sound.
I did not try to use the new card, not configuring it and not even
connecting the antenna. There was a message about missing firmware for
that when booting. Gdm did not log automatically.
I removed the new card, and rebooted. Fortunately everything worked, even
the gdm login.
Why would the mere presence of the new card in the system interfere with
the old one?
I use mythtv on ubuntu 7.10. The bttv driver is version 0.9.17,
the saa7130 is 0.2.14, mythtv is 0.20.2.
The motherboard is an ASUS M2NPV-VM, the kernel says the old card is a
Hauppauge WinTV [card=10], PCI subsystem ID is 0070:13eb.
The udev lines I used are these
KERNEL=="video[0-9]*", DRIVERS=="bttv" , NAME="video0", SYMLINK += "video-bttv"
KERNEL=="vbi[0-9]*", DRIVERS=="bttv" , NAME="vbi0", SYMLINK += "vbi-bttv"
KERNEL=="radio[0-9]*", DRIVERS=="bttv" , NAME="radio0", SYMLINK += "radio-bttv"
KERNEL=="video[0-9]*", DRIVERS!="bttv" , NAME="v4l/video%n"
KERNEL=="vbi[0-9]*", DRIVERS!="bttv" , NAME="v4l/vbi%n"
KERNEL=="radio[0-9]*", DRIVERS!="bttv" , NAME="v4l/radio%n"
This is the dmesg output:
