	Hi all,
one more datapoint for the TT 3200 tuning problems. I solved all my
locking problems by add 4MHz to the reported frequencies (coming from
the stream tables); note that one of the transponders always locked
even without this correction (its freq is 11093MHz, the others are :
11555, 11635, 11675MHz), so as you see the others are much higher.
Now there is another transponder at 11495MHz but this one I cant lock
on it even with my correction. Here are its characteristic as reported
by dvbsnoop when tuned to another transponder by szap:
    Transport_stream_ID: 605 (0x025d)
    Original_network_ID: 1 (0x0001) [= Astra Satellite Network 19,2°E
| Société Européenne des Satellites]
    reserved_1: 15 (0x0f)
    Transport_descriptor_length: 13 (0x000d)

            DVB-DescriptorTag: 67 (0x43) [=
satellite_delivery_system_descriptor]
            descriptor_length: 11 (0x0b)
              0000: 43 0b 01 14 95 00 32 55 a1 03 00 00 04
C.....2U.....
            Frequency: 18126080 (= 11.49500 GHz)
            Orbital_position: 12885 (= 325.5)
            West_East_flag: 1 (0x01) [= EAST]
            Polarisation: 1 (0x01) [= linear - vertical]
            Kind: 0 (0x00) [= DVB-S]
            fixed ('00'): 0 (0x00)
            Modulation_type: 1 (0x01) [= QPSK]
            Symbol_rate: 3145728 (= 30.0000)
            FEC_inner: 4 (0x04) [= 5/6 conv. code rate]

The difference between this one and the 4 other transponders I can lock
on is that this one has a different FEC (5/6) and the channels on it
are HD, but it is still DVB-S.
I know it works with my STB, so something is wrong here.
I would like to hack on szap or scan to be able to try several freq on
a row and get the logs from it. I will post the result ASAP.
IIRC szapping to the bad channel I get no lock but in the dmesg lock it
seems to get the carrier, weird...
I hope someone can make some sense out of that.
Oh and I am using multiproto as of just before the API change that
broke mythtv compat but I backported some fixes.
Bye
Manu

Hi,

I have a little more problems with TT S2-3200 under linux. At DVB-S exists
transponders to which is not possible to switch directly (when changing
satellite), it is necessary to tune first to another transponder at same
position (I'm using diseqc switch). At these transponders changing the
frequency is not helpful.

At DVB-S2 transponders are some transponders at which is possible to get lock
without problems. Also at some transponders it is possible to get lock when
changing frequency by 4-5MHz after some minutes (typically 2 min.). But there
exists some transponders where is practically impossible to get lock.
Interesting is that those problematic transponders were without problems
receivable some time ago. The change appeared when transponders were switched
from Thor2 to Thor5 (same frequency but only FEC changed from 2/3 to 3/4 and
pilot was switched off), also one transponder at HB 13.0E which was
receivable two months ago is not receivable any more (don't know if pilot was
switched off but other paremeters are the same).

So now I'm able to get lock on less then half of DVB-S2 HD programs which I'm
able to watch. This is not very funny situation, even if all of these
programs are without any problem receivable at the same PC but under Windows.
So I'm nearly sure that problem is in driver.

If I could be helpful with debugging and testing I'll glad to cooperate.

BR,

Ales

Well so this would point to a problem involving FEC. But is that a
problem to get a lock? I mean FEC is just involved after a successful
tuning, right? So even tuning is a problem IMHO and FEC might be
another one.
I hope that someone else can elaborate/confirm or not.
Bye
Manu

According to
http://www.ses-astra.com/consumer/de/Sender/senderlisten/2001_20080603_pdf.pdf
this transponder is analog TV with some ADRs.

Well, I've tried to confirm wheather or not some values of FEC disables the
successful lock. I've found transponder in DVB-S2 which is receivable
immediately after tuning to with the same FEC (3/4). But I've found that all
transponders on which I'm not able to get lock have FEC eq to 2/3 or 3/4 and
modulation of type 8PSK. Transponders with FEC 3/4 and modulation QPSK are
receivable without problem.

I'll be very glad if someone else could confirm or disagree with my tests as I
didn't do test tuning on all DVB-S2 channels.

BR,

Ales

Actually if you look at the position, the sat is intelsat-9
3 (somewhere above south america, I am located in the caribbean; I know
that there is a mention of an astra sat, but this is just a confusion.
Thx
