with vdr 1.7.0 and reelbox extension eHD?
I have 2.6.25-2 kernel and when I installed multiproto drivers i got errors
With Multiproto_plus and latest patch I got Picture, but some channels is

With liplianindvb I didnt have any Picture.

szap2 and drivers from
http://liplianindvb.sourceforge.net/hg/
firmware from

at first you have to try szap2 from http://liplianindvb.sourceforge.net/hg/
I have vdr 170 + h.264 patch + http://liplianindvb.sourceforge.net/hg/ + hvr4000 and I can see any dvb-s/dvb-s2 channels without any problem

I could confirm that this new version of drivers is running better (I have the
same problem as Marek and I use his hint with patched multiproto_plus drivers
to make HV-4000 under linux running) but not for all channels. I couldn't get
lock for some dvb-s2 channels (ANIXE HD, Premiere HD) which is with patched
multiproto_plus possible without problem. Also switching seems to be sometimes
slower.
I've tested it with kernel 2.6.25-2 and with fw for cs24116 version 1.20.79.0
and version 1.23.86.1.
Many thanks to Goga and Igor for their work.
BR,
Ales

it's strange - I have only repo from Igor without any patches and everything works well

I can see these channels without any problem on my vdr 170
sorry, do you use patched multiproto_plus or native repo from Igor ?

Hi Goga and Ales,
I have to confirm that with latest liplianindvb drivers I can't see
Anixe HD, Premiere HD and discovery HD on Astra 19.2E.
Rest of channels are without problem.
Best Regards
Marky

I have to apologise myself too, I had inversion set to on for this
transponder.
With multiproto_plus patches and with TT S2-3200 this errorneus channels.conf
was running, so I didn't try to check it.
Thanks,

Goga,
as you can see in your own log above, szap2 does not correctly parse the APID and SID from
your channels.conf file. This does matter if you want to use the szap2 -p option [add pat and pmt
to TS recording (which also implies the -r option)]. get_pmt_pid does not get the correct
value.
The following channels.conf.fixed works better (format VPID:APID:SID) , but perhaps it would
be best to fix the parsing in szap2 instead.
ANIXE HD:11914:hC910M2O35S1:S19.2E:27500:1535:1539:132:133:6:0
arte HD:11361:hC23M5O0S1:S19.2E:22000:6210:6221:11120:1:1011:0
ASTRA HD+:11914:hC910M2O35S1:S19.2E:27500:1279:1283:131:133:6:0
$ szap2 -c ~/channels.conf.fixed -H -p -n3
reading channels from file '/home/hans/channels.conf.fixed'
zapping to 3 'ASTRA HD+':
delivery DVB-S2, modulation QPSK
sat 0, frequency 11914 MHz H, symbolrate 27500000, coderate 9/10, rolloff 0.35
vpid 0x04ff, apid 0x0503, sid 0x0083
using '/dev/dvb/adapter0/frontend0' and '/dev/dvb/adapter0/demux0'
** get_pmt_pid returned : 100

status 1f | signal 77% | snr 50% | ber 0 | unc 0 | FE_HAS_LOCK
...
then watch the channel with:
$ mplayer - < /dev/dvb/adapter0/dvr0

There still seems to be a problem though. All three FTA HD channels lock, but only Arte HD plays properly in mplayer. Mplayer crashes after less than a second for Anixe HD and Astra HD+ :

Which version of `mplayer'?
You probably know, but it bears repeating: mplayer is a
moving target, and significant features are added regularly.
Also, some things break from time to time but are usually
quickly fixed.
I tend to build a new mplayer binary once or twice a month,
and keep the old ones around.

This looks like what I see when playing IYV-HD video (with
a patch), whereas I see something different with BBC-HD on
mplayer from the start of august:
[h264 @ 0x89e5d50]B picture before any references, skipping
[h264 @ 0x89e5d50]decode_slice_header error

This is normal at the start of the file.

Overriding type of video from 0x10000002 to 0x10000005

VDec: vo config request - 1440 x 1080 (preferred colorspace: Planar YV12)
Then it will play for me with relatively clean video. The version
of mplayer about a month earlier did not play this same file with
clean video.
Perhaps your flavour of `mplayer' doesn't properly support the H.264
encoding used by the two problem channels?
Just a thought, try the latest SVN source of mplayer, if you aren't
already

Barry, thanks for your messge. You didn't say whether you tried what
I did with HVR4000+liplianindvb+szap2 (-p option).
Before we talk about mplayer, does it actually work for you?
> Which version of `mplayer'?
>

Yes, I know. People around here could learn a lot from the way mplayer
and ffmpeg each continue to check in significant and rapid improvements to a
single repository.
I regularly update mplayer from SVN and recompile too. I have tried the following:
MPlayer dev-SVN-r27489-4.1.2 (today!): runs but video very slow and out of sync, audio ok.
MPlayer dev-SVN-r27341-4.1.2 (about 1 month old): crashes in <1s
MPlayer 1.0rc2-4.2.3 (ubuntu hardy): crashes in <1s
xine-lib 1.1.15, xine-ui 0.99.5 (latest): No video, but audio ok.
The log I showed was from Mplayer SVN 27341, but 27489 is similar: lots and lots of
"number of reference frames exceeds max" errors.

And I have some sample TS files for Astra HD+ made with another card which all the
mplayers play perfectly so I know h264 is working.
So at this point I do not think the problem is mplayer.

First, my apologies -- I've only been half-reading all the
messages, without really paying attention to things that do
not immediately concern me, and I probably should have kept
quiet.
Second, I don't have any DVB-S2 hardware yet, though the HVR4000
has been on my Interest-O-Meter -- nor is my machine fast enough
to play any streams in realtime, so I'm always writing a file
(which takes little CPU power) for playback later; in the case
of H.264 1080i video, I see at best part of one, two, or maybe
three full frames per second, which actually gives me time to
judge the quality of the video compression.
So, no, I haven't tried that, but I'm confused -- based on your
posted debug output, it looked as though you were playing a
recorded file, testfile_anixe.ts ...
The output you gave reminded me of that of ITV-HD, which uses
some (PAFF?) encoding for which mplayer recently got support,
so I posted, in case you had a distro-supplied player.

Good to know, and thanks for making me look like a fool, and
I'm happy for it. No, really. It's not just worth it for its
own sake, but if it helps others, that's even better.
> And I have some sample TS files for Astra HD+ made with
> another card which all the
> mplayers play perfectly so I know h264 is working.
I am going to plead ignorance of what does, and what does not
work for you. Please correct me where I ass-u-me wrong:
arte HD plays fine for you, both from a recorded TS file, and
live from szap2.
Anixe HD / Astra HD+ play fine from recorded files from another
machine.
Anixe HD played from your anixe.ts file crashed?
Anixe HD played from szap2 crashed?
I pointed out the different debug output from BBC-HD/ITV-HD to
show that of ITV matched your errors, and that's using an encoding
for which support has only within the last month or two appeared
in mplayer, and will not be as mature as the support used by
other streams.
Just a thought, if you cannot play a realtime stream, is that the
decoder needs to do seeking within the stream, which it could do
within a file, but the support is not yet mature enough to be able
to do the same within a stream. I could be completely wrong...
If you have short examples of recorded files that crash, and others
from the same source that play properly, I'd be interested to be
able to download them and look for obvious problems.
And likewise, if I'm not understanding where you have success and
failures with mplayer, please correct me, if you think it's worth
it, as I don't have the hardware to test on my own.
thanks,
barry bouwsma
