Hi All!

I tried a few variation, but without any success:

I try to lock (stable! :)) on our new transponders at Amos 4W:

10,723(V) GHz, DVB-S2/8PSK, SR:30000, FEC:2/3, MPEG-4/Conax
10,759(V) GHz, DVB-S2/8PSK, SR:30000, FEC:2/3, MPEG-4/Conax
10,842(V) GHz, DVB-S2/8PSK, SR:30000, FEC:2/3, MPEG-4/Conax

with a TT3200 card + Debian etch with 2.4.24 etchnhalf kernel + the current V4L-DVB mercurial drivers compiled.

The drivers recognizes my card, and for example it works good with Premiere's S2 transponders at Astra 19.2E.

But it won't lock stable on our Amos's transponders.

FYI: on these TP's there's a pilot signal and rolloff set to 0.20. I tried to push these parameters to scan-s2 and szap-s2, but scan-s2 sometimes lock and sometimes won't on these transponders and also szap-s2 (after a few try to lock with scan-s2 and get the channels.conf from these transponders) sometimes locks, but it's not stable, it lost lock after a few seconds.

What I recognized also: if i run szap-s2 on our transponders it gives me the status message lines much slower than on other TP's.

it almost always looks like this:

/usr/src/dvb/s2api/szap-s2# ./szap-s2-thome.sh
reading channels from file '/root/.szap/channels.conf'
zapping to 1 '1':
delivery DVB-S2, modulation 8PSK
sat 0, frequency 10723 MHz V, symbolrate 30000000, coderate 2/3, rolloff 0.20
vpid 0x00b3, apid 0x00b1, sid 0x00b4
using '/dev/dvb/adapter0/frontend0' and '/dev/dvb/adapter0/demux0'
status 00 | signal 00b1 | snr 0000 | ber 00000000 | unc fffffffe |
status 00 | signal 00b1 | snr 0000 | ber 00000000 | unc fffffffe |
status 00 | signal 00b1 | snr 0000 | ber 00000000 | unc fffffffe |
status 00 | signal 00b1 | snr 0000 | ber 00000000 | unc fffffffe |

status 00 | signal 00b1 | snr 0000 | ber 00000000 | unc fffffffe |

but sometimes it can lock, very rare...

please, help me.

thanks,

Basq

I have Twinhan 1041, same chipset as your card and I have the same behavior
with S2 channels.
Some can be locked, some can't. I think it's a known issue with stb0899
chips, I mean known here in the list.

Hope someone will be able to fix that. DVB-S2 scannint and locking is done
in the chip itself, so without knowledge of chip
internals it will be very hard to resolve that issue.

I asked my colleagues who set up this modulator at uplink site, because we are working on these satellite DTH system.

Is anybody can suggest a working DVB-S2 card + linux driver which is capable to lock here stable? (AMOS 4.0W, 10.723Ghz V, 30000)

thank you,

basq

I don't have any problem with lock with my last dvb-liplianin drivers
(multiproto) and HVR-4000.

But the rolloff is automatically set by the driver to 0.35.

Here is the automatically done scan from vdr-1.7.0. I've edited the rolloff to
0.20 but it doesn't seems to heave any influence even if I disable update of
channels.

The video on FTA channels is something like not fluent (only RTL doesn't have
this problem) - but it could be that no sound one that channels is
broadcasted.

BR,

Ales

Just to add my 2 cents, in lyngsat that transponder is shown as 10722 and
not 10723, so Oleg was probably not the only one who reduced the frequency
to lock on that channel.

Subject: [linux-dvb] S2API + TT3200 + Amos4w 10.723 S2 problem

Oleg, i use TT3200 also. Which kernel+drivers do you use? I tried
v4l-dvb but it sometimes scans sometimes not. It depends if it's able
to lock or not at the moment. It's not so stable. It's the same with
multiproto.

But i'm confused about driver repositories: there's the

v4l-dvb
http://mercurial.intuxication.org/hg/s2-liplianin
http://mercurial.intuxication.org/hg/liplianindvb/

http://www.jusst.de/hg/multiproto
http://www.jusst.de/hg/v4l-dvb/

but i don't know which is the multiproto, which is ported to s2api,
and which one should I use.

I tried to decrease the freqs but it doesn't help for me.

For all: I tried a few STB's and only STB's work where I can set up
the Pilot mode to ON. (we have a pilot signal)

What i really need is to zap to one of these transponder and locks stable on it.

I tried almost all what I know:

v4l-dvb with szap-s2 and scan-s2

liplianin-dvb with older szap2

s2-liplianin with szap-s2 and scan-s2

and the results the same in almost all the case: sometimes locks, but it's very rare for me.

Maybe is it because of the 2.6.24 kernel? I don't know.

Please, somebody with TT3200 with success on these TP's reply me what version of driver + utilities (szap, scan) do you use?

thanks,

Basq

Ales, can you test me what happens if you just want to lock on these TP's? Is it stable for you?

Can you tun a szap and watch it if the card lost the lock or is it locked stable?

I've tried a Skystar HD2 card with s2-liplianin drivers but the result is the same. Sometimes I can scan the TP's if the card is locked for a 1-2 second period, then it losts the lock.

This could be a driver issue, because under Windows with the original TT WDM or BDA drivers the TT3200 works perfect on these TP's.

thanx,

basq

Hi Balasz,

the reception is stable and without any problem. It is possible to watch
(tested on RTL Klub).

I'm afraid it is a problem with stb0899 linux driver. I've also this card,
tried to find the bug (I've found one in stb6100.c tuning procedure) but it
was not sufficient. Also under Windows it was without problem. After many
hours spent with this card I've bougth HVR-4000, put TT S2-3200 into my table
and don't have problem anymore.

If you want to do some more test you could contact me off-list.

Below output from szap.

BR,

Ales

I can provide some logs with and without patch.

I thougt Igors patch for high SR is for dvb-s(1) only.

anybody can confirm that dvb-s2 with SR 30000 and Fec 3/4 would now work? Transponders are at Thor 1°W or Hispasat 30°W (Meo)
