Hi guys,
Any news on SAA7162? I know this is asked fairly often but it's been a
couple of months since the last update. I did read that NXP are trying
to gauge the amount of user interest. Well here is one Linux user who
would buy such a card very soon if a working driver became available. I
am also pondering about DVB-S2/T2 but I guess DVB-S/T isn't going away
in the UK just yet. :)
James

I'm waiting for saa716x drivers as well. Hopefully we'll see some
progress with them soon. I know Manu had been working on it but not
sure how far along they are, and no clue how far Steven Toth got.

The SAA716x driver is supposed to support the following PCIe chips
SAA7160
SAA7161
SAA7162
The SAA716x development repository is at http://jusst.de/hg/saa716x
It is quite a work in progress, as of now. There are also some DVB-S2
cards based on the SAA7160.
Also, the SAA7164 chip is not supported by the SAA716x driver as it is a
completely different chip altogether.
Regards,
Manu

Thanks, Manu. I'll keep an eye on that repository. :)

Thanks for the update Manu.

Yep, includes MPEG encoder ... I just couldn't remember, from prior
conversations, whether the above driver could be extended to cover the
7164 as well, or whether it was a different matter altogether.

Hi guys,
How does one find out what is left to be done with the above project.
I have been following http://jusst.de/hg/saa716x closely and it's
getting there the work that Manu A is heading up is awesome keep up
the good work.
I just wanted to know where you were at with the driver\s what is left
to be done? because I may be able to offer some assistance if
required...I’ll see what I can do anyway to get done and across the
line.
Thanks.
