TT 3650

TT 3650

[Andreas Kurz]

Few days ago I was asking for help: I have bought the TT 3650 CI but even after installing the drivers (as suggested in the WIKI-How-To) no card shows up in Yast. 
Does that mean, the card is not supported? 
Should I do something else? Is there another How-To around?

I have such a USB device. It works fine without any patch with the last
version of Igor M. Liplianin's repository:

Thats the Problem, you only can get the driver for your card from another
repo, but not the main one.
After the first rusch pusching s2api out, no one is intrested anymore to
get more s2 cards working in the mainline development tree.

What's the problem to merge these drivers into mainline repo?
It's not easy for new users to find the drivers.
it will be more userfriendly to have them in main linux kernel!!!

Yes. I use it to look at FTA channels on AB3 5°W:

- France 24 (12674.00 H - DVB-S2 - QPSK) is good.

- I can also get the transponder 11636.00 V (DVB Newtec - QPSK), but not
  the transponder 11139.00 V (DVB Newtec - 8PSK turbo) 

- For some time, there were clear channels (M6 and W9) in the
  transponder 11471.00 V (DVB-S2 - 8PSK). Both were fine.

Just to make things clear, can you prodvide symbol rate and FEC for all 
these transponders.

I don't understand the question!

I think the symbol rate is mandatory, but the FEC may found
automatically. For example, I use vlc for the 2 different transponders:

#EXTINF:0,orange
#EXTVLCOPT:dvb-frequency=11512000
#EXTVLCOPT:dvb-srate=29947000
#EXTVLCOPT:dvb-voltage=13
dvb://
#EXTINF:0,france
#EXTVLCOPT:dvb-frequency=11590000
#EXTVLCOPT:dvb-srate=20000000
#EXTVLCOPT:dvb-voltage=13
dvb://

The first transponder is FEC 7/8, and the second 2/3.

For the other transponders (DVB-S2 / 8PSK), if use szap-s2 + dvbstream.

OK great thx, that's what I was asking for! Indeed I have some troubles 
locking on S2 transponders which all have 30 MS/s rate. I see that 
yours are lower, well with one very close to that.

Hi Manu!

I use to own this card until it broke and replaced with TeVii S650.
It used to lock just fine on this Transponders. Although i can't
receive from this satellite
anymore my dish has been realigned to 16E instead.

With multiproto repo: http://jusst.de/hg/multiproto and the
pctv452e.patch since that card was not support in any repo.
I'm not 100% sure but i think i tried it with S2API too, the last time
i tried this card with S2API, Dominik's (creator of the driver) patch
was more stable than the one in s2-liplianin which did'nt include all
parts of the Dominik's patch i think because the patch changes stb0899
code.

By tuner, do you mean the program to watch TV?

I use 'vlc' with a playing list for DVB-S. For DVB-S2, I must use
'szap-s2' to select the transponder and 'dvbstream' + 'vlc':

Hi...

Still having some problems getting this card to work for me (Suse 11.1, KDE 4.1).
I have successfully installed the suggested non-main-repo, szap-s2 and dvbstream. 
Unter Yast/TV-card I used the Experts button to tell the system to use a unknown tv-card with v4l2. Unfotunately dvbstream -o 8192 | vlc leaves me with

You forgot to tell vlc which is the source:

	dvbstream -o 8192 | vlc -
	                       ~~~

Don't forget to run szap-s2 with this command. Otherwise, you must give
dvbstream the frequency and the symbol rate of the transponder.

Forgive me for asking, but does this card really work with the s2api
driver? If I'm not mistaken, the S2-3650 and the CT-3650 are different
beasts, one is DVB-S, the other is DVB-C/T and uses totally different
chipset, see:
