Hi,
I have some problems with my AzureWave AD-SP400 (VP 1041) card.
Some background info before the problem:
I'm running on a Slamd64 distro with a 2.6.24.2 kernel and I have
the latest code from http://jusst.de/hg/mantis, compiled and installed
successfully.
Downloaded and built http://jusst.de/manu/scan.tar.bz2 successfully and
it can scan both DVB-S and DVB-S2.
I then downloaded http://abraham.manu.googlepages.com/szap.c and built
it according to
http://www.linuxtv.org/pipermail/linux-dvb/2007-October/021474.html
without any problems.
Now to the problem itself.
When I run
szap -r -i -a 1 -l UNIVERSAL -t 0 -c channels.conf "The Poker Channel"
and
mplayer /dev/dvb/adapter1/dvr0
mplayer says...
TS file format detected.
VIDEO MPEG2(pid=515) AUDIO MPA(pid=652) NO SUBS (yet)! PROGRAM N. 0
VIDEO: MPEG2 544x576 (aspect 3) 25.000 fps 15000.0 kbps (1875.0 kbyte/s)
and the picture is shown.
When i run
szap -r -p -i -a 1 -l UNIVERSAL -t 2 -c channels.conf "SVT HD"
and
mplayer /dev/dvb/adapter1/dvr0
mplayer says
TS file format detected.
VIDEO MPEG2(pid=512) AUDIO MPA(pid=640) NO SUBS (yet)! PROGRAM N. 0
and nothing else happens. I think it should detect a h264 stream.
I have tested with and without the -p option for szap with the same results.
/dev/adapter1 is a dvbloopback device and I have successfully tuned in to the channel "SVT HD" with h264 stream
on a DVB-C card so the problem must be somewhere in the DVB-S/S2 implementation?
Can anyone give me some hints of what's wrong here?
Regards
/Claes

you can try with dvbsnoop or dvbstream
http://allrussian.info/thread.php?postid=182975#post182975
dvbstream -o 8192 | mplayer -
or
dvbsnoop -s ts -b -tsraw | mplayer -

Hi,
I tried dvbsnoop on a recorded TS but I dont't understand how to read
the output so I attached some of the output in
this mail. Is there something wrong with the output? This should be a
decoded output of "SVT HD".
If it helps, I could get a similar log of an uncoded channel as a reference.
Does anyone else have this problem or should it work "out of the box"
with the mantis-driver, and the new szap?

Ok, now I have tested dvbsnoop -s -ts -tsraw > svt_hd.ts
and got the following output from mplayer.
TS file format detected.
VIDEO MPEG2(pid=512) AUDIO A52(pid=641) NO SUBS (yet)! PROGRAM N. 0
TS_PARSE: COULDN'T SYNC
MPEG: FATAL: EOF while searching for sequence header.
Video: Cannot read properties.
==========================================================================
Opening audio decoder: [liba52] AC3 decoding with liba52
Using SSE optimized IMDCT transform
Using MMX optimized resampler
AUDIO: 48000 Hz, 2 ch, s16le, 640.0 kbit/41.67% (ratio: 80000->192000)
Selected audio codec: [a52] afm: liba52 (AC3-liba52)
==========================================================================
AO: [oss] 48000Hz 2ch s16le (2 bytes per sample)
Video: no video
Starting playback...
A:69923.4 (19:25:23.4) of 198.0 (03:18.0) 0.7%
Exiting... (End of file)
The file is about 16MB and audio seems to be working but it detects
video as MPEG2 for some reason.
How should I continue with this issue, should I publish the datastream
somewhere?
Regards
Claes

How long (seconds, minutes...) this file ?
please, update your MPlayer - take the svn version.
and finally please try to use dvbstream
./dvbstream -o 8192 > your.file

Maybe around 10 seconds long.
I have updated MPlayer with the latest svn and also the latest x264
codec and the result is still the same with.
I don't understand how this dvbstream example works because of what I
understand, dvbstream uses rtp streaming?
I'm running on a 2.6.24 kernel and Slamd 64 distribution. All standard
channels works fine, but DVB-S2 is the main
issue to solve.
Has anyone really got VP 1041 and DVB-S2 to work properly with the
mantis driver?
Regards
Claes

ok

ok, it's right

it's not need, because inside MPlayer already included the fresh ffmpeg - decoder for h264

not only for rtp streaming, dvbstrem can record the files, too

so, it's better to write to Mplayer-dvb mailing list about your issue, and to upload your sample to Mplayer's ftp-server ftp://upload.mplayerhq.hu/MPlayer/incoming

The strange part of this is that when using a DVB-C card there where no
problem (except for performance) watching the same h.264
coded channel (SVT HD) so it feels like it should not be a mplayer issue.
I will try to mail mplayer-dvb and see what happens.
Can someone that got this card to work with DVB-S2 write down exactly
how so I can compare with how I did it?
Regards
Claes

See here:
http://linuxtv.org/pipermail/linux-dvb/2008-March/024382.html
This is for the Technisat SkyStar HD2 but it is just the VP1041
rebadged and is the same.
Regards,
Tim.
