Is anybody using Hauppauge WinTV Nova-S Plus with good results on a
fairly recent distribution?
The wiki says the card is supported, but I've seen reports online saying
that it doesn't work very well on Linux.

Hey,
I got it working once.
Then I had scanning problems,
now I don't have scanning problems
but szap -r "BBC THREE" for example works,
but doesn't put any data in /dev/dvb/adapter0
So I get a lock, but no data.
Don't know if this has got anything to do with the card though.
I'd suggest Ubuntu Linux.
Timothy.

Shouldn't you be using /dev/dvb/adapter0/dvr0 ?
If you have mplayer installed, try
$ mplayer /dev/dvb/adapter0/dvr0
whilst szap is running and has a channel lock

Yes, I should,
just a typo in the message, that's actually what I'm doing.
dd if=/dev/dvb/adapter0/dvr0 of=test.mpg
the file remains empty
and mplayer returns an error

It works absolutely fine for me on a Fedora 7 box using both MythTV
and Kaffeine. Is that distro recent enough?

can you provide the exact kernel with "uname -a" ?
IIRC, previously was said last working kernel was 2.6.18.
This goes since long and I also don't know what to recommend people
using the cx24123 with other cards and reporting issues, like with
Kworld DVB-S 100 and the Geniatech DVB-S.
Thanks,
Hermann
