Hi.
saa7162
Maybe thats really stupid question, but I greped and googled very
intensive and I am not sure.
What is recent status of saa7162 driver?
Am I wrong - work is frozen due to missing specs?
So should I assume - that schmeltz will not work under linux for long
time more?
Aver DVB-T Hybrid+FM PCI A16D.
I found (on wiki page), that this card is poor supported.
But I did not found 777 A16A-C at all.
I have A16A-C and it works excellent.
What is recent status for Hybrid+FM PCI A16D?
Regards

Hey,
The wiki page for the AVerMedia DVB-T Hybrid+FM PCI (A16D) shows that
the card is actually well supported using the linuxtv repository. I
wrote/updated much of the A16D wiki section as I own one of these.
Both digital and analogue work well (except for analogue audio under
Ubuntu - saa7134-alsa issues)
I haven't yet tried to use the remote but there was a post earlier by
someone who is working on getting it mapped.
If you have a new type of card that is working could you please
create a page for it in the wiki, add as much info as you can and add
it to the table here[1].
cheers,
Owen.

Hey,
If it's detecting and working as the 777 A16AR then it would make
sense to add it to the existing page, similar to the A16AR/A16D
Hybrid+FM Page.
As to the first question, the 7162 development seemed to be still
progressing as of last month:
http://article.gmane.org/gmane.linux.drivers.dvb/43048
cheers,
Owen.

No worries, I'll add the info to the wiki.
Can you send through what distro you're using as well as the output of
`uname -a`. Also can you send `lspci -vvnn` instead of just `-vv` --
It adds the numeric identifiers.
I'll create a separate page rather than add it on as the current page
name/link is specific to the A16AR.
(which it's not for the Hybrid+FM)
cheers,
Owen.

Thats not Hybrid. Thats DVB-T 777 A16A-C.
I asked about Hybrid A16D, because my card - that 777 is not described
anywhere but works.
Therefore I was not sure if Hybrid A16D description is up-to-date as 777
A16A-C does not exist at all.

My apologies, I was just drawing a comparison to the hybrid.
Thanks for the information, I've created a page for the 777 A16A-C:
http://www.linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/AVerMedia_AVerTV_DVB-T_777_(A16A-C)
If there's anything missing feel free to add it, or let me know and I can.
Next I, or someone, will have to add a patch to have it detected and
labeled correctly instead of 'Avermedia Technologies Inc Unknown
device'. As the card itself is working this shouldn't be too hard.
cheers,
Owen.

By the way.
I thought about MPEG4/H.264 section on wiki pages. In Poland DVB-T+ is
most used standard.
But at this moment due to PFAF interlacing I had to use commercial codec.
I can write a little howto, but it would be some free advertising for
core avc.
Do you think it has some sens?

AFAIN there is no _official_ directive or standard for DVB in Poland.
There is a only a recommendation form UKE [1]. In short, minimal
requirements are DVB-T (v1), MPEG-4 AVC (aka H.264) and DolbyDigital+
(EAC3).
Second recommendation is from GIGEiT [2]. It contains more detailed
parameters for both "SD" and "HD".

Sure, every how-to is welcome.

There is a decision.
Due to number of possible programs and frequencies limit polish DBT
stations will work with H.264.
Most of test transmiters changed standard from mpeg2 to h264 just in
this summer.

Only H.264/AVC.

There is a decision.
Due to number of possible programs and frequencies limit polish DBT
stations will work with H.264.
Most of test transmiters changed standard from mpeg2 to h264 just in
this summer.

That is true. But I'm sure that KIGEiT, Instytutu Łączności and
broadcasters cannot made anything a national standard. According to
Polish law[1] such decision can be made only by minister. Minister did
not make any decisions yet, so there is no national standard for DVB
in Poland.
