I fixed this yesterday but only for af9015 main tree :-( Unfortunately I
am not in my home so I cannot fix this just now for your test tree. But if
you can, you can fix it yourself.
Open file af9015_test/linux/drivers/media/dvb/frontends/af9013.c
Remove lines 982-986. Compile and test. Hopefully it works.
You can remove following lines (982-986).

Looks like tuner is not identified. Could you load af9015 with some
debugging enabled to see more information?
1) remove all dvb-modules "make rmmod"
2) load af9015 with debug enabled "modprobe dvb-usb-af9015 debug=3"
after that there should be more information in message-log.

hmm, now it even fails to read eeprom :( I have no idea why. Could you
try to poweroff and do cold start to see if it loads driver properly then...

Tested and seems to work on HP Pavilion dv7-1060eo (Avermedia A309 DVB-T)
with Maxlinear MXL5005S tuner driver.

Markus Ranne reported this working, see couple of mails back on the list.
But anyhow, looks like you has problem that firmware does not run.
Re-download and install firmware. Hopefully it helps.

After download, compile with option CONFIG_DVB_USB_DEBUG=y and install latest
v4l-dvb sources the device only works if i add option
options dvb_usb_af9015 debug=3
to /etc/modprobe.conf.local and load module dvb-usb-af9015
with option debug=3 !
