I emailed quite a while ago and have been following the mail list ever since, but I was curious as to what might be the major hurdle
to getting support for the DVICO FusionHDTV5 Express card (http://www.fusionhdtv.co.kr/eng/Products/fusion5express.aspx) . It
utilizes the CX23885 Chipset and the 5th Gen. LG Tuner, which both seem to be supported, as well as some PCIx interfaced cards.

Following is my current system stats as well as the relevant portion of the 'messages' file:

Gentoo linux kernel 2.6.26-gentoo-r1 x86_64 Dual Core Athlon 4400+
DVICO FusionHDTV5 Express
Air2PC/AirStar 2 ATSC 3rd generation (HD5000)  (x2)

Given the above it looks like it is detected properly and I can even find the adapter under /dev/dvb. The problem I seem to be
having is when it comes to getting it to tune. I get the following errors:

#====================== BEGIN ======================================================

using '/dev/dvb/adapter0/frontend0' and '/dev/dvb/adapter0/demux0'

I figure the problem is really operator error, but I cannot seem to figure it out. I probably just can't see the forest because of
all those dang trees.

Any help, ideas, suggestions, anything would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
--J. Evans

Debug looks OK. If you have another board where you know for certain
that tuning a specific 8VSB frequency works, then tuning this same
frequency with the LG should probably work reliably.

In terms of the tuner-to-demod, are you confident that the I/F is set
correctly? (And inversion for that matter?)

Thank you for such a quick response.

The installed Airstar HD5000 cards both have an LG tuner and can tune perfectly fine.

I am not sure I understand the above question. How would I go about setting up the interface for the tuner-to-demod?

Thanks,

OK, pick a single frequency and focus on always tuning that for the time
being with the Express card.

/me checks the code and thinks it should be working fine.

Specifically, please list here the frequencies that lock reliably for
you on 8VSB with other boards. I've seen issues in the past (mainly due
to driver issues) where channels tables work reliably for one tuner but
not for another.

Still, that shouldn't effect a new complete scan using the 5_EXP card,
the channels table would be wrong if that was the case, but it would
still lock.... unless something broke.
