My comments to you were based on the fact that you're 1 mile from the broadcast antenna. Assuming your antenna is in good shape then I'd expect the hvr950q to be a great choice. It's got great sensitivity (xc5000 + AU8522) and I use it all the time (for digital cable). Good result btw. Based on the facts so far it's probably something specific to your stick, your location or your testing. Try windows and report back if you can.
