Hello,
I have a DigitalNow TinyTwin, which I have got working with the
drivers from http://linuxtv.org/hg/~anttip/af9015/summary
However, I seem to only be able to use one of the two tuners on the
card. I'm not sure if this is a limitation of the driver, of mythtv,
or of my knowledge. Any suggestions on how to get both tuners on the
card working with Myth would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
Rasjid.

I disabled 2nd tuner by default due to bad performance I faced up with
my hardware. Anyhow, you can enable it by module param, use modprobe
dvb-usb-af9015 dual_mode=1 . Test it and please report.

Antti

I have enabled dual mode, and now have an extra adaptor in /dev/dvb.
However, when I try to set the new card up in the Myth backend in
Capture Card Setup, I get an error on the Frontend ID: "Could not get
card info for the card #1", and for Subtype: Unknown error.
dmesg also has an error message:
af9015: firmware copy to 2nd frontend failed, will disable it
Any suggestions?
Cheers,
Rasjid.

I also currently get this with my kworld 399u
I suspect a small delay I had originally after 2nd firmware copy and check
is not being done but havent had time to check yet.

I'm using Mythbuntu 8.04. I created a file /etc/modprobe.d/dvb
containing 'options dvb-usb-af9015 dual_mode=1' and rebooted.
This gives the errors described before.
I have now just done the process 'manually', including re-plugging the
stick. The 'extra' adapter is recognised by myth, but attempting to
record with it yields nothing on one channel (Myth complains that it
can't find the file for the recording) and unviewable video on the
other.
So not a lot of joy. :-(
Cheers,
Rasjid.

All this has inspired me to retry my DigitalNow TinyTwin. The results
are good (excellent) and badish. I am available to do any testing and
builds required. Thanks for all the hard work!
I installed http://linuxtv.org/hg/~anttip/af9015 drivers and firmware,
rebooted. As expected one tuner recognised (/dev/advb/adaptor0).
The Good:
A "scan au-Brisbane" picked up every local channel, quite surprising as
I was just using the crappy little antenna that came with it. Better
yet, MythTV displayed the video on the all the channels with excellent
reception - signal strength > 60%, no artifacts. That's better than any
of the other tuners I have trialled on this test PC with similar setups,
but it is in line with the windows drivers. The TinyTwin just seems to
get really good reception when driven correctly. Its worth it for the
single tuner alone.
The not so good :)
I did a "modprobe dvb-usb-af9015 dual_mode=1" and got similar results to
Rasjid - adapter1/frontend0 was not created and there were errors about
copying the firmware. However on a reboot both frontends were there.
Warm start maybe?
The Bad:
"scan au-Brisbane" Wored ok, but a"scan -a 1 au-Brisbane" caused
adapter0 to vanish and adapter1 never found anything. The following was
in the dmesg log:

I made other test version of af9015 driver which uses different MXL500x
tuner driver. I think it will perform a lot more better. Please test:

Ok, done some initial testing.
- Uninstalled old build, rebooted, installed new build and rebooted
- /dev/dvb/adaptor0 created
- Tunes and play's back *really* well, I tested with Kaffeine -
excellent reception, no dropouts or sounds squeaks that I noticed.
Tested with HD signals as well. This was only for a few miniutes, I
haven't had a chance to schedule a full recording, but will test that soon.
I enabled the second tuner and ran into the exactly problems as before
when trying to tune - kernel crash etc. The machine locked up on
shutdown and required a hard boot.
Thanks! - Lindsay
