I have been trying to get my 2 HVR-1800's to work with my time-warner cable
box without much success at all.
Good thing I bought 2 of these, since they are exactly what I needed, and
can't use them at all except OTA, since there are lots of problem with the
analog input of these.
I am looking for a good analog capture card that can get S-video and maybe
audio from my TW box, so that I can use them in Mythtv.
Does anyone have any suggestions on what cards have analog S-video support?
Thanks!
-Mark

There's a nice channel change script to talk to the DCT-2524. You could also use a PVR-250. Don't know about how many SVideo inputs the PVR-500 has. The myth website has a page on supported cards: http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/index.php/Category:Video_capture_cards I use a PVR 150 with a digital set top box connected to the S-video input and it works fine. If you need a USB device the Pinnacle Dazzle works fine with the em28xx module. I just connected one of these to a DVD player with S-video: http://www.pinnaclesys.com/PublicSite/us/Products/Consumer+Products/Dazzle/Dazzle+Video+Archiving/Dazzle+Video+Creator+Plus.htm Keith > > Thanks! > > -Mark > -- > video4linux-list mailing list > Unsubscribe mailto:video4linux-list-request@redhat.com?subject=unsubscribe > https://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/video4linux-list > -- video4linux-list mailing list Unsubscribe mailto:video4linux-list-request@redhat.com?subject=unsubscribe https://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/video4linux-list ^ permalink raw reply [flat|nested] 10+ messages in thread

The Backend is sitting in a media closet, so it's a fullsize case. ;) So, with the 1600, Svideo in, w/ Audio interleaved in mpg format, you say it works? Can anyone verify this, before I go out and purchase this, or a PVR-250. -Mark -- video4linux-list mailing list Unsubscribe mailto:video4linux-list-request@redhat.com?subject=unsubscribe https://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/video4linux-list ^ permalink raw reply [flat|nested] 10+ messages in thread

I already have 1394 channel changing working without a hitch. I already have 1394 channel changing working without a > hitch. Mark, Just to manage expectations, you may want to read the ivtv-users and ivtv-driver mailing list archive for the past month or so. Some users have absolutely no problems. Others have noticed some audio or video playback annoyances with analog captures (which I am working to get resolved). Personally, I like my HVR-1600's and don't have problems with analog and digital tuner captures. I don't use S-Video or CVBS composite regularly. You will need to do buffered playback, which MythTV does always, and mplayer does when you use the '-cache 8192' commandline option. (I'm hoping to resolve the need for that too.) > Time to hunt out a 1600.
