I know I will be in Nice, not sure about Amsterdam yet.
The co-location of a libcamera, pipewire and gstreamer events also
makes me lean towards Nice as a better choice for the media summit.

Do I assume correctly we would organize it by ourselves like the
previous years, finding sponsors and renting a meeting room somewhere,
and not relying on the Linux Foundation ?

Likewise, I know I'll be in Nice. I can probably make it to Amsterdam
too if needed.

For ER certainly, for OSSE it is always worth to check what the LF charges for a
room. If only to have a comparison.

I personally wouldn't accept an offer from the LF that wouldn't be free.
They have the financial means to help us, if they really cared about
Linux communities and not just the interest of their members.

This one is my preference this year for few reasons. The
libcamera/gstreamer/pipewire meetings are the biggest weight in the
balance to justify this 6000 km trip. Its also good for the parallel
encoder effort (still need to send emails by the end of week) to get
some F2F sooner then later.

The second reason is that my lasts ELCE didn't give me the impression
the trip was worth it. It was very expensive for the level of talks
they where presenting.
Third reason is simply that I personally won't be able to attend since
I'll be on vacation with the family. School also only start the week
after, might be a little local of a comment, but that really makes the
date the most terrible choice for me personally. But I can imagine
other school in the world starts at similar date, and that other people
have young kids.

I just asked for my company approval to join these events. Nice would
undoubtedly be easier for me to arrange.
I'll keep you posted.

Hi all,
Just a friendly reminder to reply if you want to attend the Media Summit, and
if so, which place works for you.
Currently the preference seems to be Nice.

Hans

A yes from me.

I will also attend Embedded Recipes in Nice and really unsure about ELCE in
Amsterdam. Like Nicolas pointed out, it's an expensive trip with less and less
technical value. I feel like it's mostly interesting to get business
visibility and see people from the community.
I'd be interested to talk about stateless video encoding uAPI topics there.
Cheers,
Paul

Hi all,
I can confirm that the Media Summit will be held in Nice. I hope to be able to
post more details by the end of this week.

Since this is now confirmed for Nice, for those of you also interested
in attending ER (14-16 may), registration is open:

I'm one of the organizers of ER, so If you end up co-locating with ER,
it would be great to have you attend ER also. I'm also still organizing
talks & speakers for ER, so if you have any ideas for good talks, please
don't hesitate to check our CFP and submit your idea(s):
https://embedded-recipes.org/2025/cfp/
Hope to see/meet some of you in Nice!
Kevin
