I think you did something wrong now. There is usb interface pointer 
passed to probe() and you should always use device on that interface to 
print messages. Only that way it works properly. Looks like you now pass 
wrong device - i2c adapter device - to logging and due to that it prints 
messages wrong.

Add that line to probe() in order to see how it should work:
