Well, it's not just ext2 and ext4.

Is this the simplest way of solving the problem?  This is just pinned
pagecache.  We already have way of handling pinned pagecache (eg,
mlocked pages).  Can we reuse those mechanisms, perhaps after suitable
generalisation?
