I have been tyring to setup dosemu 1.1.3 to run as suid. I need it to poll a POS (both definitions apply. it's an old system that should have been replaced 10 years ago. I kid you not.) system through the serial port. It works fine if I run it as root. But I would like it to run as the admin user so it can poll the data on a cron job. Only the admin user will have access to it. Not too worried about the security issue. So, I did a system wide install, suid the dosemu.bin file, moved the config files to /etc/. Set unrestricted for user all in the users file. Set security to 0. But it still does not work. Lock file issues. I have read all the docs I could find and have swamped google checking the web and groups for answers. Found a lot of info, and I have tried a lot of things, but I just can't get it to work. I have been working on this for over a week now with no luck. I am desperate. I want to toss out the old DOS computers but I can't unless I can get this POS system talking to the Linux system. Please help. I have to go to Windows if I can't get this to work. (yuck) Thank you. Eddie
