Subject: layout, charset, fonts, no starting X-Window

Hello,
being not yet very familiar with Linux and after one week of trying
to get on with dosemu and to understand the documentation I am near
to despair...

My problems.
I am not succeeding in configuring for east europaen characters and
layout (cp852, latin-2) in dosemu 1.1.4.0, the changings of
dosemu.conf had no effects. With dosemu 1.0.2.1, it works better, but
also there are two characters and keys, which dont work.
Trying to use bigger fonts (vga11x19), failure, have executed these
things with mkfontdir, no effect.
Can't run dosemu 1.1.4.0. in an X-window: there comes the message:
"ERROR: X: Can't open display ":0.0".
the connection was refused and you do not have enough rights to
connect to your X server or there is something wrong with the
contents of your DISPLAY variable. "
Dosemu 1.0.2.1 starts in an X-window.
I am using MS-DOS 6. 20, Suse 8.1 on a Sony-laptop. Please tell me,
which information you need for diagnosis.
it's essentiel for me to run Dos-programs under Linux, therefore
help will be highly appreciated.

Greetings
Heinz
