Hi
I want to run DOSEMU in LTSP 3 terminal, but DOSEMU segfault during
startup. LTSP is Linux Terminal Server. LTSP terminal is Linux that boot
over the network. All filesystem is read-only (except /home and /tmp),
shell is available without login. I'm trying to find solution, without
sucess. Does anybody have run DOSEMU in LTSP Terminal ? Please help.
Regards
Daniel

Yes, three months ago I had the following configuration running:
SuSE 9.0, kernel 2.4.20, LTSP 3, terminals run X server, DOSEMU 1.1.99.
Works great. The only problem was (and still is) that my clipper
accounting application has file/record locking problems within
DOSEMU/FreeDOS.
There was nothing special about dosemu under terminal server
environment. Did you try already X terminal(s) + xdosemu?

Hi, Bill, Daniel and all,
The project was held a couple of months ago, intended to replace some 12-15
windows 9x boxes running only clipper accounting applicaiton within their MS
DOS 7.x. They all should have become X terminals to a linux box running LTSP
(here is where Daniel should get hope: except locking it all run easily and
smoothly).
Thanks to John Charlton, Peter Tuharsky and Mikhail Ramendik who wrote with
nice suggestions at that time (I could not answer due to a sudden surgery
that put me out in a hospital for weeks) -- unfortunately, nothing helped.
The application is written in clipper 5.3b and uses standard clipper locking
functions (flock, rlock) for accessing common data files. It cannot be
debugged by DOSEMU developers because it is Bulgarian and even if I describe
tets cases, noone will be able to reproduce them.
One more fact here: For the sake of finding the problem source, I excluded
either of the players FreeDOS and DOSEMU and tested. In both cases I've got
probelms, which means that both DOSEMU and FreeDOS introduce misbehavior when
running this app.
If Daniel is lucky enough to pass by such trubles, he has all chances --
Daniel, don't give up; let me know if I can support you somehow.
Yassen
