Is it possible to do something with dosemu/freedos that's similar to what pre-XP
Windows does on boot-up, i.e. display a custom logo in the dosemu window
instead of the text status messages?

Someone was working on one here
http://logosys.logotypes.se/

(not working for me - google cache)
http://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&source=web&ct=res&cd=1&url=http%3A%2F%2Flogosys.logotypes.se%2F&ei=RMMFSZLqIom00gSaysD3DA&usg=AFQjCNFYAGiCNn7s147IcRimNLjDDdGIzg&sig2=kEGQ3c7l82GksoL6THSP2A

But freedos wasn't compatable last time I checked - the guy lists on
his site whats needed for it to work.

I you use dos 7 or 7.1 (from windows 95/98) the logo from there does work.

I actually found that website and gave it a read-over before I posted my query
here.

I was actually hoping that there were other developments not listed there,
specifically for freedos.

During my searching around, I discovered that you can boot freedos over pxe,
which is very cool, but nothing about showing a logo on boot. I guess the
necessary technique would be such a horrible hack that nobody has created it.

Too bad. I use dosemu/freedos to run several single-purpose programs on
various desktops and it would be nice to show the users a logo, or
something prettier than a black screen with white letters, during the second or
so that it takes freedos to boot in the window.
