Either disable $_pci, $_irqpassing and
$_ports or give a root privs to dosemu
(after upgrading it, of course).

And consider using dosemu's IPX support
rather than trying to access your NIC
directly.

Hello list,

I'm using dosemu binary version 1.0.2
I've installed msdos622 inside of the dosemu

I have 2 NIC cards installed one for IP (netgear) only the other strictly
for IPX (3coms 3c905B card)

I get Dos 6.22 to run without problem

I CD to nwclient
I run lsl ..no problem

I run 3c90x it states ...
3com 3C90X Fast EtherLink XL/Family Adapter Drive w/ DME v3.10 (980429)
(c) Copyright 1998 3Com Corp. All rights reserverd.

Slot 2, IRQ 5, Port E400
Max Frame 1514 bytes, Line Speed 10 Mbps
Board 1, FRAME ETHERNET_802.3, LSB Mode

Network adapter not found or not responding.

3c90x-DOS-6: The Adapter did not initialize. 3c90x didn't load.

I can run vlm without errors :)

the net.cfg file has

Link Support
       Max Stacks 2
       max boards 2
       Buffers 4 1514
       mempool 2048
Link Driver 3c90X
       BUS 0
SLOT 2 <---? how to find which slot to use?
       INT #1 5
       PORT #1 e400
       Frame Ethernet_802.3
       Protocol IPX 0 Ethernet_802.3
NetWare DOS Requester
    FIRST NETWORK DRIVE = F
    SHOW DOTS=ON
    FILE HANDLES=80
    PB BUFFERS=0
    SET STATION TIME = ON
    PREFERRED SERVER = LEARNSERV
\x1a

In dosemu.conf the only line that I have edited related to ipx was
ipx_support=(on)

I've also tried
$_pci = (on)
$_irqpassing = "5"
$_ports = "range 0xe400,0xe47f"
$_ipxsupport = (off)
$_novell_hack = (off)
$_vnet = (off)

which the boot.log outputs

from /proc/pci output

Bus 0, device 18, function0:
Ethernet controller: 3Com Corporation 3c905B 100 BaseTX {cyclone} (rev 480).
IRQ 5.
Master capable, Latency=64, Min Gnt=10.Max Lat=10.
I/O at 0xe400 [0xe47f],
Non-preferrable 32 bin memory at 0xe7821000 [0xe782107f]

boot.log shows
